Help Women Heal, Incorporated is a non-profit
organization, which registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in March 2010. We are applying for tax exempt status with the federal government as a 501c3 private charity with two overlapping missions:
- Raising awareness about health conditions for most Afghan women and children, including refugees.
- We work on providing funds for vocational & medical training for women & young Afghans.
Life for most Afghan women is shrouded in a subservient status and vulnerable to widespread and deeply rooted violence, violence committed with impunity and in many different ways. Decades of international conflict alternating with periods of stark indifference have fostered the growth of an extremist ideology among boys and men due to poverty, a lack of education, and international interference. This radical and distorted interpretation of Islam, uncommon in Afghanistan until recently, has resulted in nothing less than gender apartheid, forcing girls and women to face constant threats, harassment, attacks, and exclusion from many of life’s activities, including health care. Help Women Heal, Inc. invites your partnership with us. Educate yourselves, friends, fellow students, colleagues. We recommend the award winning documentary by Meena Nanji, View from a Grain of Sand. Check our Resources tab for books, films, links, and articles.
Help Women Heal, Inc. also offers partners opportunities to form relationships with our scholarship students. They have
much to teach us about the stereotypes and misinformation resulting from agenda driven media outputs. Help Women Heal, Inc. operates from the assumption that it is relationships, person to person contact and support, which educate, empower, and heal in ways that can be sustained. And, educated and skilled Afghan women are the best and most sustainable sources of healing for Afghan women and children.
The $$ donated to Help Women Heal, Inc. provides access to medical, health care education, and vocational training for the most vulnerable beings in the chaos that is Afghanistan. It really isn’t charity ~ considering how Afghan women & children’s lives have become so impoverished and restricted ~ it is justice.
